A coggins test is used to test for Equine Infectious Anemia (EIA) which is a viral disease that affects horses, mules and donkeys. Some signs and symptoms of EIA include weight loss, fever, decreased appetite, while sometimes there are no signs. Before traveling, owners must have proof of a negative coggins test.
